24th ANNUAL 356 PARADE:
Activities kicked off on Friday night (27th) with a get together and dinner, but not at the usual Bill Bell’s Hotel. Due to a booking mix up we decided to try fresh a pasture and this was the Vine Hotel in Collingwood, just round the corner from Porsche Cars Australia, so it was easy to get to. This proved a good choice as we were much less crowded and were able to enjoy excellent food with table service. It was good to catch up with friends from around Australia, and New Zealand.

The weather forecast for the weekend was for cooler weather and a few showers, following the heatwave we had endured for the previous two weeks. Saturday however dawned bright and sunny and it was a happy crowd that gathered at Porsche, ready for a tour Northwest of Melbourne. As we reached the vicinity of Mt Macedon the sky clouded over and it got quite cool, and stayed that way until we got back to Melbourne. After a coffee stop at Woodend, we took a tour through the Hanging Rock National park to Curly Flat winery at Lancefield.

WA CONCOURS D'ELEGANCE:
The Porsche Club WA Concours started for us with emails to all and sundry calling on as many356's as we could muster. We were invited to participate and to partake of a generous free lunch. One of our members enthusiastically offered to bring all three of his cars. Even the one that was as yet unlicensed. A trailer was borrowed and hitched behind our trusty truck and a beautiful red 356 machine was towed to the Sir James Mitchell Park with views of Perth across the Swan River. We ended up with five cars. A highlight of the day was during the awarding of prize when John Webb's Slate grey 356B was awarded the concours trophy for the air cooled category.

TAILS FROM THE NORTH:
This year ‘Drive Your 356 Day’ saw us gathre at the old Ashgrove Tram terminus for a trip up to Mt Mee for lunch.

The last time a tram ran in Brisbane was forty years ago, so finding an extinct tram terminus was a bit of a challenge for some of the group, but ten cars found the spot OK. Maury Swanson joined us again this year, and arrived with Bob Riddel in the B coupe. Iain Nowell brought the red A racer, Ian Ashbrook the red C, Bill Stekhoven the 911 Speedster, Adrian Harding the Targa, Colin Starkey a 944, Wolf Grodd was testing his newly acquired 220 Mercedes, and Derek Ellis came modern. Nigel Blackwell was at last able to use the ivory A cabriolet after some gearbox problems, and I was in the A coupe.

With respective navigators, we had arranged to call in to Willi and Christa Reinicke's home at Samsonvale for a cuppa and a look around Willi’s extensive garage.
