Careering Downunder NZ
Our route was to take us in a loosely anti-clockwise direction around the North Island. If you weren’t there, an atlas may be useful to follow our adventures. Never having been to NZ, my anticipation was of some nice beaches, numerous sheep and lots of geysers and hot mud. There are lots more!

Australians (around 28) and Americans (4) drifted into Auckland over the preceding days, and had a chance to see the sights of this beautiful coastal city from our convenient harbour side Copthorne Hotel, just round the corner from the gastronomic and visual delights of the famed Viaduct and the Maritime Museum. While the drivers collected their (mostly unscathed) cars from storage, the navigators had plenty of time to browse the shops and eateries, take a ferry ride, sail on NZ41 and generally build up their strength for their forthcoming gruelling duties in the passenger seats.

South Australian Update:
Our most recent event was a breakfast run on Sunday 18 May. Meeting at Porsche Cars, we had a drive through the Adelaide Hills passing through Nairne, Woodside, and Lobethal to the Scenic Cafe at Norton Summit.

A good turn up of ten people enjoyed a pleasant drive that encompassed some of the Adelaide Classic Rally stages and a relaxing morning was had by all. It was good to catch up with the local gossip with Andrew Patterson moving ahead with his pre-A cab restoration, Mark Poole is apparently well advanced with his D roadster and A coupe restoration. Cherise Collins has returned to the 356 fold again and I am getting my brakes dual circuited.

Tails from the North:
0n 26th August twenty early examples of Porsche excellence submitted themselves for display and scrutiny by other enthusiasts and the public.

This once a year classic is organized by the CMC of NSW, sponsored by Shannons and controlled by the ARDC.

Our group made up of the 356 Register and PCNSW members, consisted of Dave Nichols 550 Spyder, Geoff Boyd, Michael Cassimaty, David Cockcroft, Peter Lonergan, Geoff Thomas, Craig Lettington and Michael Kent all in 356s. Paul Brian Richards all in 911s. Ken Smith and family in a 924 and Rod Cooper in a 944.

Around mid day a further twenty club cars arrived from their south coast breakfast run and many of the members occupied the spare seats of the display group cars on their 1.5 lap drive around the circuit. This is a special moment for those who have never been on the track, all be it at a controlled pace.
